For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: We parked on the south side of the 10 freeway (opposite from the park) and it was quite nice. Could have parked a bit further from the freeway to lessen the noise.. Would stay here again.

Dave

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: There's a little turnoff and road before you enter the national park. There's a road for easement rights and I didn't go down it. I just turned left and there's a big open field area to park in. Good free quiet site off the I-10 for boondocking.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: It took a little searching to find a level spot, but this is a great location. The view of mountains, valley and sunset are spectacular. It is close to the park entrance. There must have been 20 other campers here during our visit. Spots are on both west and east of Cottonwood. There is a main gravel road running east/west to the sites. We want to come back on another visit just to relax a few days.

Timmyitinerant

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Decent spot just outside the South entrance. Somewhat level, fire ring, around quite a few others just after Christmas, but still pretty quiet and a nice night overall. Definitely better to arrive earlier to get a good spot. Filled up quick.

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: Boondocking at its best. Sunsets are great and ready access to Joshua Tree. Was windy during the night but no problem for our Class C.

More Whimsy

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: 5 star rating based on boondocking expectations. Visiting NP in 33' class A. Access to camping directly across from park's south entrance. Good bladed road with numerous spots for RVs, quite a few had fire rings and easy spots to turn rigs around. Quiet and scenic desert location (can see highway and lights). When I return with family we will happily use this location if park sites are full.

Tent-couple

For Joshua Tree South Entrance BLM: This was a very pretty area with wildflowers blooming in spring --and it was free! --but it has no services whatsoever. For people in tents, this means no water, no toilets, no shade and no picnic tables.
