For Upper - Cheaha State Park: Mike and Cheryl here. We have a 44 foot Class A RV. Here is my review of Cheaha State Park Upper Campground. The campground is located at the peak of Cheaha Mountain. This campground is not near any main hwy and requires a very steep drive up a windy road. Once you arrive at the park entrance, there is no parking area for large motorhomes. Absolutely none. There is one area on the right side, but if that spot is already used by cars, you have no option. The road inside the park is paved and in good condition. The office was open and the staff was nice. The camp store has some basic needs. The campground has both back in sites are pull thrus. Most are 50 amp full hook up. The sites are gravel and many seem level. All have a fire pit and table. Some pull thru sites have your patio area right along side the road. It is facing the wrong way in my opinion. We had site 35 which was very nice. Most sites have some type of tree shade. Many have a view of the forest, but some face the road. The bathhouse was open and seemed clean and very nice. I did not see the laundry area and there is no pool. No Wifi and no cable and no phone service with Verizon. The garbage dumpster was convenient. There was no road noise. The sites are spaced apart nicely. I have a few suggestions on some other sites within this campground. Sites, 36, 35 11, 12, 27, 28, and 37 are some of the best sites. Dream Big, Travel Far, Live Well..

For Upper - Cheaha State Park: In many ways, 3 stars is not a fair rating. I wanted to give it 5 stars. Beautiful park. Beautiful views. Beautiful campground with nice facilities. And trust me - we will be back. But there are two big flaws that knock down its rating. First, there are only a select few sites that I would call acceptable. If you get one of these sites, fantastic! Truly superb. If not - oh my goodness you are in for a miserable stay. Second. It’s 2021. No cell service and no WiFi is simply unacceptable. So a really mixed bag here of really great and really bad - resulting in 3 stars overall.

For Upper - Cheaha State Park: New bathroom and very quite. About the best I can say about the place. Some very narrow roads to get to the park and not MH or 5th wheel friendly.

For Upper - Cheaha State Park: Agree with SteveB's review. We did take Rt 49 with a 40' Class A towing an F150. It was sporty! 8% grade at one point. We stayed at the lower campground. The host was ever present and helpful. We stayed in site 68, a pull through near the spotless bathrooms. Amazing views from restaurant at top of mountain, but pretty limited menu and no alcohol on Sundays. Excellent hiking in the park and surrounding national forest.

For Upper - Cheaha State Park: Very nice State Park. Upper campground has new bathhouse facility. Sites and roads in CG are rough but easily dealt with. All trails walkable from CG. Best trails we have seen in the south. Great sunset view from hotel area. I would not approach Park from RT 49 with an RV as it was narrow 2 lanes. From Munford West is even worse on a narrow but paved forest road. Use route 281 from Oxford area and east. Cell service spotty. WiFi at store useless. OTA TV good. Alabama has 10% sales tax. Mountain Laurel was in bloom May 19th and was a bonus. CCC museum and stone cabins worth seeing.

For Upper - Cheaha State Park: This is a park I will not go to again. The campsites are nice. The bathroom and showers were filthy. After the cleaning staff had just finished I went in to find mold on the walls and a floor that had evidently not been swept in quite a while
