For Lone Eagle - Lake McConaughy SRA: We camped here for three days in mid October 2021. It was a wonderful stay. There is one of the best sandy beaches I’ve ever seen outside of the ocean, and it stretches for miles. Very quiet here this time of year and not many other campers. I’m sure the summer is a very different experience since this is evidently one of the most popular places to camp in Nebraska, and camping/vehicles are allowed right on the beach. The park is clean. We had a spot that had lovely lake/beach views out our back window. We had no problems with the full hook-ups. There is a hot spot in the park, but we didn’t need it. T-Mobile was 3-5 bars LTE. While we did no uploading, we had no problem surfing the net or streaming video. Two downsides: 1. It is a bit more expensive than I’d expect. 30 dollars per night isn’t bad, but you have to add a DAILY entry fee of 8 dollars, bringing the total to $38 dollars per night. 2. There are ABUNDANT goatheads. There is literally no escaping them. Still, all in all, a great place to camp.

For Lone Eagle - Lake McConaughy SRA: As far as I know, this campground is the only one on Lake McConaughy with full hookup. The sites are quite nice, level, relatively easy to back-in, mostly spacious and shaded. I never used the facilities so can't speak to that, but groundskeepers were ever present and the place seemed well kept. My biggest complaint was that our site did not have a water spigot on it (minus two stars). There was a spigot about 50 ft away and it had to be shared with the site next to ours. I noticed almost all sites had their own spigot, but a few sights like ours did not. My site was 042 FYI. Oh, our view included the large trash bins across the street. Upon being emptied one morning, the smell was overpowering at our site. You can purchase wifi. I bought 3 days for about $7, well worth it. Verizon signal good, Ogalla was good place for laundry and shopping. If you don't want to be around crowds of families and children, don't camp here, especially on a weekend.

For Lone Eagle - Lake McConaughy SRA: Nice and well organized, and in a beautiful lakeside setting. It looks like all the sites had shade trees. Not all sites have water or sewer, but I think most of them had electricity. Bathrooms were clean, showers were coin operated (my husband paid 75 cents for an adequate shower). I would've given the campground 3 stars due to the pay showers, but my husband and I enjoyed the expansive lake views so much that we bumped it up to 4 stars. Lots of free (sort of) camping on the beach.
