Prairie Branch - Huntsville State Park

Nice spacious like other state parks, views of the lake from almost every site under tall pines. OK bathrooms-2/3 of showers operating but clean. Three stars because I think it is overstaffed?! Between 8 hosts and bored staff, there is old rattly SUV’s or golf carts traffic constantly breaking up the quiet nature. Probably won’t stay here again.

We stayed for 1 night. Clean, friendly staff, nice walking trails. Some sites have inclines but they kind of warn you about the sites when you book. If in doubt call.

We scouted sites before picking one so ours was mostly level (#150), but many sites are very very unlevel, especially on the lake side where where they all go down to the shore. We watched one van try to level for 45 minutes, eventually with help by the camp host, before giving up and moving to a different site. Luckily there was lots of availability but not sure what you’d be able to do if it was full. Some bathrooms are ok but some are pretty dirty. However, the rest of the park itself is really nice, lots of trees and quiet.

Beautiful park set in large pines. Clean, private sites. Dark, quiet. Hot shower. Everything we needed for a great stay. Really nice trails too. Water and electric, but sites are back in, nice and level though. Folks very friendly and helpful. Not too far from the freeway.

Clean, quiet, pretty with lots of hiking trails and plenty of places to fish or swim. Would have stayed a second night if I could have. Easy on and off 49.
