For Gobbler Knob - Stockton Flats Yellow Post Sites 16: Beautiful site but not at all RV friendly. The road is composed of a single lane mountain pass. Mountain on one side cliff on the other. Immediately upon entering the roadway there is a large drop. The tail of the RV [bad] here badly making it impossible to back out. We pressed forward hoping to turn around soon. It was close to a mile of twists and turns with steep ingles that had the trailer kissing the bed rails often. We eventually came upon a 4x4 coming down the trail. He had been watching us from up high and knew we were in trouble. He with his 4x4 managed to climb out of the trail to allow us to pass. We asked where ahead we could turn around and he said good luck. If two RV's met on the trail the result would be a catastrophe. Eventually we decided on what we thought was our best chance of turning around which was a sorta flat washout. We managed to back the trailer in but in short order our 4x4 dually was stuck. After having a friendly passer by tug us out it was a fight to save the trailer. A trip to the hardware store for shovels and gloves coupled with 6 hours of digging later we managed to make it out.
I couldn't imagine making this trip with anything other than a 4x4 class c or a camper shell on a pickup. Or perhaps towing a pop up. A 5th wheel is out of the question.
If you have the right stuff it's pretty and worth a visit.

For Gobbler Knob - Stockton Flats Yellow Post Sites 16: This campsite is NOT RV FRIENDLY. It states up to 80 feet, but we took our 40 foot RV and spent six hours digging ourselves a way out. There are no turnarounds, and it steep ledges. We were lucky enough to find a decent campsite that at least allowed us to somewhat turn our trailer around and salvage it, but we still came out with thousands of dollars of damage, and almost ruined our truck. Please don't take your RV here. Otherwise, it was a gorgeous spot, just not so great memories for us. Good luck!
