For Tumey Hills - BLM: Yep, Phil’s assessment is accurate, small for bigger rigs, shooting nearby, road is washboard. I actually cruised it and did not stay. Too sketch.

For Tumey Hills - BLM: We stayed here in a 36' fifth wheel and it was miserable. The access road is shown on BLM's map as "gravel". Instead, it is a dirt road that, after a day of rain, had turned into a sea of mud. We nearly got stuck several times despite using our 4 wheel drive. The area is beautiful, but the camping area is very small and the day we were there (a Saturday) we were surrounded by 4 or 5 unsupervised groups of 4 or 5 people each who, from dusk to dawn, used the hills all around us for "target practice". It was like a battlefield without the mortars and artillery. It was extremely dangerous for us -- and them. The ground is practically covered with shell casings. If you have even a tinge of PTSD, don't go near this place! There are a couple of rest areas a few miles north on I-5 which would be a much better and safer choice. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!
