For Knolls OHV Recreation Area - BLM: You can also stay one exit to the east (Delle) and then head on the frontage road west for 1-2 miles. Nice flat spots. Beautiful views. Verizon 4G 4 bars and a ton of TV channels! In July 2020 midweek we were the only ones in sight. And really far away from the freeway so no road noise.

For Knolls OHV Recreation Area - BLM: Great site! Gravel drive in then you camp anywhere you like on the salt flats. Beautiful night sky, and the view of the freeway is nice; it's like having a fishbowl. It's far away enough to be quiet. We had a colony of bats flying nearby, which was very cool. Clean outhouse.

For Knolls OHV Recreation Area - BLM: We stayed here June 2016 and were the only unit there (25 ft travel trailer). This is an area of sand dunes utilized by the OHV crowd, who left by dusk. Pit toilets; no water or electricity, but the price was right - only $6, $3 with the senior pass. Used dispersed camping technique of building a fire pit ringed by rocks and packed garbage out.
