For Shawnee Forest Campground: Campground is right off Rt. 24 so you can hear it. The owner is currently making improvements. More sites and planting trees. And the trees are growing! Site is former golf course so the concrete walkways are nice. Clean laundry and restrooms but did not use. Nice location for Tunnel trail and Garden of Gods. Plus other nice Shawnee National Forest area’s. Would stay again. We are in site 26.

For Shawnee Forest Campground: Stayed here for the weekend in order to run Tunnel Hill 100 mile ultra. Campground is conveniently located about a mile from the trailhead. Campground access is easy and the layout makes getting into your site a breeze. Only negative was a lack of trees/cover, but it wouldn’t stop us from staying here again. I’m sure as the property develops that lack of trees will change. Highly recommend.

For Shawnee Forest Campground: This is a keeper. Close to the internet, easy access, nice, open level sites, and it's run by a really nice family. Only problem was lack of internet, but cell service is good here, so it did not present a problem. Great stopover place!

For Shawnee Forest Campground: Very conveniently located just off I-24. Nice park with large clean sites. 2 catch and release fishing ponds. Owner let us choose our site since we were here in the middle of the week. Definitely would stay here again.

For Shawnee Forest Campground: We visited this campground a week after the grand opening. Surprisingly, there were many more sites taken than I expected. But the location is great as it is 0.2 miles off I-24 and within a mile ride to the Tunnel Hill State Trail (rails to trail road). You can tell the is a new park and is still in a building stage, but the sites were complete. We selected site 6 as we have a class B and prefer to use the bathhouses. The bath house we used had 2 rooms, each with a full shower, sink, toilet, and a chest. Lost a of room for changing. The one on the left did not have water on the floor did any escape the shower area when I used it. The one on the right did as the water doesn’t drain well. I suspect the people taking showers aren’t that good with using the shower curtain as it really isn’t needed. The shower temp was good and you do push a valve to keep the water going but it stays on for around 20-30 seconds which is very timely. The host was easy to find and very friendly. Cell service was good for Verizon. The campground itself is on a rolling golf course and utilizes the trees as much as possible. The roads and sites are gravel. I can’t recommend the water. It was too warm and didn’t taste great while on my bike ride.
I would definitely stay here on the way back especially to ride my bike to the actual Tunnel Hill which is 9.3 miles from the Vienna rail station.. You do have to ride about 0.8m on the highway and about 1/3 of this has a good shoulder. No shoulder for the rest, there is a good parking lot for those who don’t want to do the short ride down and back. Theere is McD’s on the way back. This fails to Trail is 55 miles which should be a good attraction for bike riders..it is crushed stone, so gravel bike or off road bike is preferred.

For Shawnee Forest Campground: New campground that is still finishing up the work...but informed the official grand opening will be Memorial weekend. 224 acres of an old par 3 golf course that owners have remade into what will be a beautiful campground. We had a level gravel pull through site with good electricity and adequate water pressure. Met and conversed with the owner and his hosts. Very friendly and helpful folks. Owner has hotel experience and is using that knowledge in the RV campground business. Plan is to be there for travelers and not fill up with permanent residents...what a novel idea. No pool planned and minimal kid toys on grounds...another plus. No WiFi yet but sure to come. We would stay here again in a heartbeat. Stayed in a 40 ft class A with tow

For Shawnee Forest Campground: Traveling back to Wisconsin from Florida we decided to try this new campground. Like the others have stated this park is a work in progress. It’s laid out nicely and easy to navigate through. There’s NO WiFi in this park but I imagine there will be once it’s closer to completion. In talking with the owner there are plans in the works for a winery moving into what used to be the golf course club house. We were also informed there are a couple of fast food type restaurants “looking†at building adjacent to this campground. This will be a beautiful park in a couple of years, there’s still a lot that has to be done.
We stayed here in late March in our fifth wheel. We would stay here again!
