For Camp Serene: What a lovely stay!! We stayed 8 nights and wished we had stayed longer. This is a private site on a short gravel road minutes from Lake Lure and Rutherfordton and about an hour from Asheville. The site itself is wide open with full sun. The only structure on site is the water shed (this holds the water you will use) along with a poured concrete pad we used as our entry patio. The power pole and water hook-up are close to each other, allowing for a number of options when setting your rig, but you will need to be conscious of the septic dump location. There is a large stone fire pit off to the side and the entire perimeter beyond the campsite area is wooded, allowing for visits from deer, turkeys, and (rumor has it) a bear. There is no cable TV or Wifi, however air channels are plentiful, cell service (Verizon) is very good, and both Verizon and AT&T hot spots worked just fine. This is a private site, but not desolate with two houses on the other side of the gravel road and a few other residences farther down. There is a nice hike beyond the end of the gravel path that will take you all the way down to Cove Creek. We thoroughly enjoyed our quiet time here after our first year full-timing and bouncing between numerous RV resorts and a few state parks; and, our dogs absolutely LOVED having their own space to spread out! Leslie and Charles were wonderful hosts, stopping in to make sure we got in and set up okay and checking on us again before we left. We will definitely be back here at some point!! Hopefully this hidden little gem won't be all booked up.
