Getting there
Take I-10 Exit 11; head South on NM-338 for 24 miles. The Smugglers Roost entrance will be on your right at Hatchet Rd. You will see the Smugglers Roost sign at the entrance and a large water tank approx. 100 yards West of the entrance road. (Note the Smugglers Trail historic marker just South of the entrance.) Tip: If coming from the West, I-10 Exit 5 offers a cost-effective gas stop at Shady Grove Truck Stop prior to heading into Animas.
