More on Being Pet Friendly
Without the symbol or text, they do not have a pet policy. Always inquire about this when making a reservation. pet friendly hotel status changes like the wind in the lodging business. There may or may not be fees and limitations. In most cases, there are fees and you may be stuck in a smoking room as well. We are finding more and more chains that are taking advantage of pet lovers in a big way, charging as much as $200 in fees per stay for a $50 room. They seem to be taking "unfriendly" lessons from certain large airlines. Please read on below for more important information on traveling with your companion.
Coming up with a directory of
Pet Approved Property Stays is not easy but we feel it's worth it. As animal lovers ourselves, we think it's an important plus to a travel related site. Most sites assume that our families are only human but we know that it's not necessarily the case. Whether or not they are our member properties or have online booking, it's good to have a list of possibilities for you and your extended family.
The
important thing to stress here is that ownership and management changes everyday at some property somewhere..... so
policies change. We encourage the use of our information as a guide but stress that you should contact the property for a detailed up to date policy before you reserve. There may be fees involved, special rules, limited rooms for pets or maybe they just changed the policy yesterday.
Pet Friendly Hotel Chains
This is a common issue and we have a bit of information for you. Chains are many times owned by franchises which means separate owners and managers. You may find one location that takes pets and another in the same area that does not. Make sure you
check with
the property before you assume. Some common considerations for properties are that you are
liable for damages. You may be asked for a credit card to secure payment for
possible damage. You should keep your pet leashed or contained when outside the room at all times. You should be
courteous to neighbors and not leave them unattended in a strange room. A limit of one pet is common. Make sure you have permission to have more than one.
Weight limits are also common. Check on this.
