Read the ghost story below...
The "story"...
The ghost of a little girl, who was burnt to death in a house that once stood here, now haunts the hotel built over the buried ashes of her former home. Guests, maids, managers, and bellboys have all witnessed Tanya's playful spirit here. People usually report her jumping on beds in empty rooms or running through the halls at night.
Grand Island is just west of Buffalo, NY.
And the corrected story....
It is a 30-year-old three story Holiday Inn hotel. No child ever burned to death in the house that stood where the hotel is. The house was built in the 1830s as part of the Whitehaven Sawmill Settlement and is on the East Niagara River. The first Grand Island, NY supervisor, John Nice, bought the property including the house in 1848. He and his wife raised their ten children, none of them named Tanya, in that house, referred to as "the mansion." The house, a restaurant at the time, burned in 1962. No one burned to death in that fire.
However, people just love the story which has changed several times over the past 28-29 years.
